Moving might be stressful, but it is something that most of us have to do at least a couple of times in our life. If you are already an experienced mover, you probably know all the pitfalls already – if you are not versed yet, here are a few things to consider before you pack up:
- Take care of the utilities and the internet – you need to have the utilities disconnected in your old home, preferably on the last day that you spend there and you need all the utilities as well as the internet to be connected and working in your new home by the time you get there. Start the process a couple of weeks before you move – some providers are booked for weeks in advance;
- Change your address wherever you need to – inform your bank and your insurance provider about your new address and don’t forget to update your address on your newspaper subscriptions either;
- Pack a first-night box – when you get to your new home, you will probably be too tired to unpack and arrange everything in cupboards and on shelves. Have a box that contains the items that you will need during your first night, make sure you label it properly and pack it onto the moving vehicle last to be able to unpack it first.
